When you can't tell a shortcut from a trap you'll regret

I take the quick way through because it gets the thing working today. But I keep finding out later that some of those shortcuts were traps that come back and bite the whole team. I can't yet tell the good shortcut from the one that's going to blow up, so I just keep adding to the pile.
