When you explain it right for engineers but lose the room with execs

I explained the outage to the engineers and it landed fine, and then I gave the same explanation to the executives and watched their eyes glaze. I went too deep, used words that meant nothing to them, lost the room. Other times I dumb it down so much the technical folks get impatient. I can explain the thing, I just can't always read how much the person in front of me actually needs.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

You can explain the technical thing, but you can't always match how deep to go to who's listening.

If this sounds familiar, the Library can help you find the bigger picture.
