When you finally got tenure and still feel trapped

I spent years grinding toward tenure, sure that once I had it I'd finally feel free to do the work I cared about. Now I've got it, and instead I feel stuck and strangely flat. The department politics haven't changed, my old spark has dimmed, and I keep wondering whether the work still means what it used to.
