I'm always asking people what they think, telling them I want their honest input. They give it, sometimes carefully, sometimes bravely, and then I do nothing with it. Nothing changes. I've started to notice the way they hesitate now before answering, like they've caught on that the asking is just for show. And they're right. It is.
