When you keep your people small to protect yourself

There's a big project I could hand to someone on my team who's ready to grow, but I keep giving it to myself. If they stumbled, I'd be the one cleaning it up and explaining it upward. So I keep them on safe, small work, and tell myself it's protection when really I'm capping them.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

You keep your people on safe, small work because their failure would land on you.
