When you know your subject but can't make them care

I know my subject inside and out — I could teach it in my sleep. But standing in front of thirty teenagers who won't look up from their phones, I can't get a single one of them to care. I go home most nights feeling like I'm failing at the one thing I trained my whole life to do.
