When you lay the groundwork that works but nobody ever sees it

I can sit with a customer and draw out exactly what they really need, even the parts they couldn't name themselves. That groundwork is why the whole project works. But by the time it ships, nobody remembers the digging I did up front, and it stings to watch the credit land everywhere but on the part I built the foundation for.
