When your whole success is that nothing ever happened

For a whole career I've caught the defects that would have hurt people, the crack you'd never see, the part that would fail at the worst moment. Nobody ever knows about the disasters I stopped, because they never happened. I wrestle with work whose entire measure of success is a silence, an absence, a nothing.
