When your work changes lives in ways no one ever sees

I've helped kids who couldn't say their own name walk out talking, helped stroke patients get their words back one painstaking week at a time. I can reach almost anyone now. But the progress is so slow and so quiet that even I have to squint to see it, and no one outside that little room ever does. After all these years I wonder if the work I've poured my life into is seen by anyone at all.
