When you're the buffer for everyone and it's wearing you down

I've led this school through budget cuts, hard years, and every kind of crisis, and I know how to hold a building together. I still believe in the mission, deeply. But I'm the buffer between the district and the teachers, the parents and the kids, and standing in that middle year after year is quietly wearing me down.
