To do my job in the operating room, I learned to push my feelings way down so my hands stay steady. It works, but lately I catch myself feeling nothing at all, even outside the hospital. I'm technically excellent, and I'm scared I've buried so much that I've lost the reason I ever wanted to do this.
More people experience this than they realize.
Shutting off your feelings to do the job has left you numb to why you started.
