Scenario

When encouraging your child's medical career means accepting they will face racism

My daughter is applying to medical school and she is brilliant and qualified, but I keep worrying that she will face the same racism I did as a nurse thirty years ago, and I do not know if I should encourage her or try to protect her from that pain.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The person struggles with the tension between supporting their child's dreams and protecting them from institutional trauma they know awaits.
