When couples disagree about obligations to aging parents

My wife and I are both dealing with aging parents and we're realizing we have completely different philosophies about what we owe them — she believes adult children have an obligation to sacrifice their own lives for their parents' care, and I think there are limits to that responsibility. It's affecting every decision we make and creating tension between us.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people are discovering that their assumptions about filial duty and the limits of sacrifice are fundamentally incompatible when it matters most.
