Our book club started as a way to think seriously about ethics and philosophy together, but it's devolved into everyone just restating positions they already held rather than letting the reading change them. I can see we're all performing intellectual curiosity rather than actually experiencing it, but I don't know how to call that out without seeming like I think I'm better than everyone else.
More people experience this than they realize.
The safety of your thinking space has been compromised by the need to appear smart rather than be curious.
