When intellectual discussion groups become advice-giving sessions

Three of us have been meeting monthly for two years to talk about books and ideas, but lately whenever someone shares something they're genuinely struggling with, the other two immediately jump to solutions or reassurance instead of just staying in the hard questions together. We've accidentally turned our thinking space into a fixing space and I miss the old discomfort.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group committed to exploration has unconsciously shifted toward comfort, losing the productive difficulty that made their conversations valuable.
