I'm a detective working with community leaders to address youth crime and we keep running into the same wall where what the community sees as mentorship and intervention, my department sees as interference with law enforcement. The community meetings feel productive but then nothing changes in how we actually handle cases and everyone's getting frustrated with the disconnect.
