When colleagues of color disagree on representation and allyship at work

My colleague and I are the only two people of color on our leadership team and we keep getting asked to speak for 'the Black perspective' or 'the Latino experience' in meetings, but we have completely different views on most issues and it's creating this weird tension between us where we feel like we're supposed to be allies but also authentic to ourselves.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

You're navigating the impossible position of being expected to represent entire communities while honoring your individual perspectives and relationship with each other.
