When external recognition doesn't match how creative partners see themselves

My creative partner and I have been making art together for five years, and we just got our first major gallery show, but the way people talk about our work makes it sound like I'm the 'real' artist and she's the helper, even though that's not how we see ourselves. She says it doesn't bother her but I can feel something shifting between us and I don't know how to address it without making it worse.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Outside perception is imposing a hierarchy that contradicts their internal understanding of their collaborative identity.
