When shared trauma leads to conflicting approaches to justice

My organizing partner and I both experienced trauma from the same institution but we have completely different approaches to seeking justice and sometimes it feels like we're invalidating each other's healing processes. We started working together because we understood each other but now our differences feel like betrayals.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Common experiences of harm can lead to different strategies for healing and change that feel mutually threatening when not explicitly navigated.
