My partner and I are both from formerly colonized countries but we've ended up arguing about whether sending our kids to the international school here is 'selling out' or being practical, and it's bringing up all this stuff about what we're trying to preserve versus what opportunities we want them to have. We keep talking past each other because we each think the other doesn't understand what we're sacrificing.
