When couples from different immigration experiences disagree about major life decisions

My partner and I both immigrated here but from very different circumstances - they came as a child with family support and I came alone as an adult refugee - and we're trying to decide whether to move back closer to my home country for a job opportunity but we keep talking past each other about what 'home' even means. They see it as an adventure and I'm terrified of the complicated feelings it brings up about belonging nowhere fully.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people are discovering that their different immigration stories create fundamentally different relationships to place, belonging, and what constitutes 'home.'
