When research partners' backgrounds affect their justice reasoning

My research partner and I are studying inequality and we're supposed to be applying rawlsian analysis, but we come from very different class backgrounds and I think that's affecting how we interpret the thought experiment. She sees certain inequalities as justified that I think violate the difference principle, but we haven't figured out how to address this directly.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Personal social positions influence how people apply supposedly universal principles of justice, even among those trained in impartial reasoning.
