My research team is working on a project that could have major social implications and we all came into this with different motivations, but the closer we get to publication, the more I'm questioning what kind of scientist I want to be and whether my teammates and I are actually aligned on the ethics of what we're doing. We've been focused on the technical work but avoiding the harder questions about who we are as people doing this research.
