When entrepreneurs struggle to decolonize business practices in Western markets

My startup co-founder and I are both from colonized countries but we've been in Silicon Valley long enough that we've absorbed a lot of Western business practices, and now we're trying to build a company that serves our home communities without perpetuating the same extractive relationships that venture capital usually creates. We keep going in circles because every decision forces us to choose between what works in this system and what aligns with our values.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people are discovering that operating within colonial systems makes it nearly impossible to avoid replicating colonial relationships, even with the best intentions.
