My teenager just came out as non-binary and my spouse and I are trying to support them but we're approaching it completely differently - I'm researching everything and wanting to talk openly about it while my spouse is more cautious and worried about privacy and 'making a big deal' of it. Our kid is picking up on the tension and I think they feel like they have to manage our reactions instead of us supporting them.
