When solidarity movements struggle with settler leadership and Indigenous autonomy

Our activist collective is planning actions around Indigenous rights and some of us are Indigenous and some of us are settlers and allies, and we keep running into moments where the settlers want to take leadership roles or speak publicly and we haven't figured out how to navigate solidarity without centering settler voices again. The Indigenous members are getting frustrated and some of the allies are getting defensive and we're losing focus on the actual work.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A mixed group is discovering that good intentions don't automatically dismantle the leadership patterns that settler colonialism creates.
