When advocacy groups can't agree on taking a death penalty stance

Our community advocacy group is split down the middle on whether to take a position on death penalty abolition and it's paralyzing our ability to work on other criminal justice issues we all agree on. Half of us think we have to take a stand and half think it will alienate potential allies and we're spending all our meeting time rehashing the same arguments instead of doing actual work.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A shared mission is being undermined by an inability to navigate disagreement on a divisive issue within that mission's scope.
