Our community garden collective has been talking about being more intentional about who we are as a group and what values we actually embody, but every time we try to articulate it, the longtime members keep defaulting to vague language about 'inclusivity' while the newer members want to name specific commitments around economic justice and environmental racism.
More people experience this than they realize.
A group attempting to examine and define their shared identity is discovering that different members have fundamentally different visions of what that identity should be.
