When democratic processes become undemocratic in practice

Our community garden collective makes decisions by consensus, which worked when we were eight people but now we're twenty-five and every meeting turns into exhausting circular discussions where the same few voices dominate and others have stopped showing up. We all believe in democratic participation but this process is actually excluding people and I don't know how to bring it up without seeming like I want to abandon our values.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group committed to inclusive decision-making faces the paradox that their inclusive process is creating exclusion.
