Scenario

When community groups outgrow their decision-making processes but can't agree on alternatives

Our community garden collective makes decisions by consensus and it worked when we were small, but now we're 20 people and every decision takes forever and nothing gets done because a few people can block everything. Some of us want to try a different decision-making process but changing it would require consensus, which feels impossible, and people are getting frustrated and dropping out.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The commitment to ideological purity in governance becomes self-defeating when it prevents necessary adaptation to changing group dynamics.
