When shared spaces reveal deeper community divisions

Our community garden has become a place where longtime residents and newer residents interact, but there are definitely tensions around different approaches to gardening, decision-making, and what the space should be for. People are polite but I can feel the underlying frustrations and nobody wants to be the one to bring up the elephant in the room.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Physical spaces can become proxies for larger conflicts about belonging, authority, and cultural differences that communities avoid addressing directly.
