When intentional communities accidentally reproduce systems of exclusion

Our community garden started as this beautiful shared space but now there are unspoken rules about who belongs and who doesn't, and I can see how we're unconsciously recreating the same exclusions we thought we were working against. Some of us see it and some of us don't and bringing it up feels like accusing people of being bad when they're trying to do good.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Your good intentions aren't protecting you from replicating the very dynamics you set out to change, and the people who see it happening don't know how to address it without seeming to attack the people who don't.
