When multiracial employee groups struggle with conflicting priorities

Our employee resource group for multiracial staff started strong but we're realizing some of us want to focus on advocacy and systemic change while others just want community and belonging, and the tension is splitting us apart. We're supposed to be the space for people who don't fit neatly anywhere else but we can't even agree on what we're trying to accomplish together.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group formed around shared marginalization is discovering that common identity doesn't automatically create alignment on purpose, strategy, or even desired outcomes.
