Our mosque's board is split on whether to openly support Palestinian relief efforts because some members worry it will bring unwanted scrutiny from local authorities, while others of us believe our silence in the face of clear injustice violates our duty to uphold adl as Allah commands. We keep having these careful conversations around the edges but we haven't directly addressed that we're weighing our community's safety against our religious obligation to stand for justice.
