Our neighborhood association is trying to address gentrification, but the longtime residents and newer residents have completely different ideas about what the problems are and what solutions would actually help. Every meeting feels like we're talking past each other even though we all say we want the same thing.
More people experience this than they realize.
Shared geographic space doesn't automatically create shared analysis of problems or alignment around solutions, especially when residents have different relationships to change.
