Our neighborhood group formed to address gentrification but we've become the very thing we were trying to prevent - the longtime residents who started this can barely afford to stay involved while those of us with more resources dominate every meeting and decision. I can see it happening but don't know how to address it without sounding performative.
More people experience this than they realize.
A group organized around justice is unconsciously replicating the same exclusions they set out to fight, creating a painful contradiction between values and practice.
