How to navigate ethical conflicts over funding sources in nonprofit leadership

Our nonprofit board voted to accept a major donation from a company whose labor practices completely contradict our mission, and the decision was made while I was traveling for work. Half the board thinks we can't afford to turn down the money given our budget crisis, and the other half is talking about resigning if we keep it, and as board chair I have to figure out how to lead us through this without the organization falling apart.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

When survival and principles collide, leaders must navigate the gap between ideological purity and pragmatic sustainability.
