Our police union is debating whether to support new community policing initiatives and it's splitting along cultural lines with officers from minority backgrounds generally supporting the changes and white officers feeling like their experience and judgment is being questioned. Every union meeting now feels charged and we can't seem to have productive discussions about policy anymore.
