When chronic illness support groups split over advocacy versus coping

Our support group has become divided between people who want to focus on advocacy and changing systems versus those who just want emotional support for coping day-to-day. Some members feel like we're becoming too political while others think we're being complacent, and I'm watching friendships fracture over what our purpose should be when we all came here because chronic illness made us feel isolated.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A community formed around shared experience is fragmenting because members have fundamentally different beliefs about whether healing happens through acceptance or action.
