How long-term and new board members can work through power dynamics

Our volunteer board has three people who've been here for over a decade and four newer members, and every decision becomes a subtle power struggle between 'how we've always done things' and new ideas. We all believe in the mission but we're spending more energy on internal dynamics than on the actual work we're supposed to be doing.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group's effectiveness is being undermined by unacknowledged tensions between institutional memory and fresh perspectives.
