Our workplace diversity committee includes people from different class backgrounds and we're trying to address economic barriers for employees, but the conversation keeps getting stuck because those of us who grew up poor see the problems differently than colleagues who've always had financial security. We want the same outcomes but we can't agree on what the real barriers are or how to address them.
More people experience this than they realize.
Diverse committees can remain ineffective when class differences in perspective aren't acknowledged or integrated.
