Our book club started as a way to thoughtfully discuss democracy and technology but it's become an echo chamber where we all just validate each other's existing beliefs and no one wants to invite people who might disagree because it could get uncomfortable.
More people experience this than they realize.
The safety that enables learning becomes the comfort that prevents it, leaving the group practicing dialogue only with those who already agree.
