When siblings disagree about inherited family property and what it represents

My brother and I inherited our family home together when our parents died and we can't agree on what to do with it — he wants to sell and split the money while I want to keep it in the family even though neither of us can afford to buy the other out. We're both grieving and this house decision is bringing up everything about how differently we experienced growing up there.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The same place can hold completely different meanings for people who lived there together, and practical decisions become impossible when they're really about competing versions of family history.
