When parents must address grief stage misconceptions with grieving children

My teenage daughter and I are both dealing with my mom's sudden death and she keeps asking me which stage I'm in because that's what they taught her in health class. I don't know how to explain that real grief doesn't work like that without destroying something that might be helping her cope.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Protecting someone from oversimplified models while they're using those models to make sense of incomprehensible loss requires exquisite tenderness.
