When parent and teen poets struggle to connect over love poetry

My teenage daughter writes beautiful love poems but won't share them with anyone, and when I try to connect with her about poetry she shuts down, even though I've been writing poetry my whole life. I want to support her artistic development but I'm worried that my enthusiasm comes across as intrusive, and we're both poets who can barely talk to each other.

More people experience this than they realize.
