Our friend group spans multiple religious and spiritual backgrounds and we all care deeply about social justice but every time we try to organize something meaningful together someone gets triggered by language or approaches that feel exclusionary to their tradition. Last week our planning meeting for a community action fell apart because we couldn't even agree on how to open the gathering and I'm watching our shared love for humanity get paralyzed by our need to be perfectly inclusive.
More people experience this than they realize.
The desire to honor all traditions equally is preventing the group from taking any meaningful action together.
