How friend groups navigate gathering after losing someone to suicide

Our friend group used to get together every few months but since Jake died by suicide last spring, every gathering feels like we're all performing being okay and no one wants to be the one to bring down the mood. We love each other but we've lost the ability to just be together without this awful careful cheerfulness.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Collective love is trying to preserve itself through false lightness, but grief unexpressed in community becomes grief that isolates.
