When mentor-mentee relationships struggle with creative control in joint projects

My artistic mentor and I have been working on a joint exhibition but they keep making final decisions about the layout and lighting without consulting me, and I can't tell if this is normal mentor behavior or if I'm supposed to advocate for more creative control. The show is about both our work but feels like it's becoming their vision of what our work should look like together.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two artists at different career stages must negotiate power dynamics that affect both the work and the relationship.
