When creative collaborators discover incompatible working processes

My collaborator and I are working on an installation and we've been planning it for a year, but now that we're in the fabrication phase, our different working styles are creating constant friction. They need to plan every detail and I need to improvise and respond to materials, and we're both getting frustrated trying to accommodate the other person's process.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two makers' creative processes are fundamentally incompatible, threatening both the work and the partnership.
