My theater mentor invited me to co-create this new work with them and I was so honored but now I'm realizing they still see me as their student even though they asked me to be their collaborator. Every creative disagreement becomes this weird power dynamic where my ideas get treated as suggestions while theirs are treated as decisions.
More people experience this than they realize.
The invitation to collaborate can be sincere while the ability to truly share creative authority remains trapped in old relational patterns.
